Two Coins
These creaking floorboards,
These cemetery toes,
Upon which I delicately place,
My feet that whisper,
Around your soft glow,
You’re a sunk rainbow.
Hey, hey dreamer,
Dream the eternal dream,
Hey, hey lover,
Love the never-leave,
You were born in Kansas,
Now you’re born in make believe.
These black clothes,
These respectful eyes,
Upon which I delicately place,
Respectful eyes,
Around your sullen shape,
Now you’ve escaped.
Hey, hey sleeper,
Sleep the eternal sleep,
No love can befall you,
But we love your memory,
You died in the city,
Now you live in make believe.
